    [content] =>

    [title] => Business Plan - just the first step!
    [content] =>

The success of every business plan depends upon the quality of its execution.
Business plans are really nothing more than logical, well thought out action plans which are derived by intelligent analysis of the target market and the opportunities it offers to a business or organisation. BUT writing a Business Plan is only the first step. The most important reasons for the failure of a business plan lie in the planning and execution of the key actions.

Creating the business plan is probably the easiest and most enjoyable part of a journey to successful growth. There are many tools and techniques that we can use to guide businesses and organisations in their development of ambitious and well-targeted Business Plans. The hard work starts once you have decided where it is that you want to go. Taking any Business Plan and implementing it in a way which is likely to deliver the desired results needs resources and careful planning

Following a simple 5 step process will offer the greatest chance for success:

  • Understand what you do well and why
  • Understand what you would like to do better and how
  • Design intelligent and well targeted goals (SMART)
  • Decide what tools, resources and training are required to reach the goals
  • Track progress, maintain a high profile and share success and failure with all involved in the journey

Whether a start-up or an established business a business plan is not meant to be a static document. As the business grows and evolves, so should its business plan. A regular review of the plan should allow it to be updated to take account of evolving market conditions, and to look back and see what has been achieved and what has not.

A good business plan starts with an executive summary of the business; includes a detailed description of the business, its services and/or products; and states how the business intends to achieve its goals. It should also include at least an overview of the industry in which the business is active, and how it distinguishes itself from its main competitors.

We at adlatus can offer help and support for each step of the way including the most important implementation phase where the vast breadth of experience of our members really comes into play to ensure the best possible chance of success.
